Practice in Steel and Temporary Structure
Prerequisite: ENG59 2315 Steel and Temporary Structure or study concurrently
Design practice in steel and timber structures, scaffolding, temporary and retaining in excavation work, plate girders, connections; ASD and LRFD methods
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)
1. Analyze and design steel structure components.
2. Analyze and design wood beams, columns, and trusses.
3. Analyze and design form work for concrete walls, beams, slabs, and columns.
4. Identify alternative form work systems and select the most appropriate one.
5. Review alternative scaffolding systems and discuss their standard of practice.
6. Discuss options for the support of excavation systems.
7. Identify the most suitable equipment for hoisting materials, personnel, and erecting structures.
