Metal Cutting with CNC Technology

Prerequisite: None

Basic theories of metal cutting i.e., turning, milling hole making; cutting parameters and their calculation; classification of metallic materials based on international standard; cutting
tools and selection; CNC programming; computer-aided manufacturing software; operation of CNC machine; CNC machining cost estimation.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs):

1. Explain principles and differences of various machining processes.
2. Explain definitions of cutting parameters and calculate the parameters.
3. Establish basic CNC program and use computer-aided manufacturing software to make CNC program.
4. Perform part making by a CNC machine.
5. Calculate cost per part for parts produced by CNC technology.
