Kilns and Furnaces

Prerequisite : ENG26 3003 Drying and Firing Technology in Ceramics or study concurrently

Different industrial kilns and furnaces. Basic principle in kiln design. Kiln sizing calculation. Kiln structure and type of refractories. Heat loss calculation and energy balance. Fuels and heating values, combustion equation and combustion analysis. Types and important properties of burners. Calculation in design of electric furnaces.

1. Learning and understanding of different industrial kilns and furnaces.
2. Learning and understanding in the basic principle in kiln design.
3. Learning and understanding in heat loss calculation and energy balance, fuels and heating values, combustion equation, combustion analysis.
