Geology for Engineers

Prerequisite: None

General geology related to civil engineering, surface of the earth’s crust, origin and characteristic of rocks, geological structure, geological mapping, geology of natural water resources, sites dam and reservoir, control of erosion and flood, tunneling, landslides, land-subsidence, construction material, general knowledge of earthquake.

Learning outcomes

1. Explain the principle and basic knowledge of general geology related to civil engineering clearly.
2. Identify problems that require general geology to solve and demonstrate understanding of the context of the civil engineering problem.
