General Geology

An introduction to Earth’s internal structure, processes within and at the surface of the Earth. Description, classification, and origin of minerals and rocks. The rock cycle. Internal processes; volcanism, earthquakes, crustal deformation, mountain building, plate tectonics. External processes: weathering mass-wasting, streams, groundwater, glaciers, deserts, coasts
Learning outcomes
The students know Earth’s internal structure, processes within and at the surface of the Earth and physical properties of rock and minerals. They can identify and classify rocks and minerals by physical properties while considering the morals, ethics, and environmental impacts
