Summary of economic principles with a focus on interest rates and time value of money. Analyzing and comparing various investment approaches for engineering projects to make informed decisions, such as evaluating breakeven points, calculating depreciation, assessing replacement costs, and analyzing after-tax incomes.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)
- Create a cash flow diagram in the specified problem format accurately.
- Formulate equations with interest rate parameters from the specified problem format using the correct cash flow diagram.
- Calculate the present value of money at different time periods accurately.
- Select an appropriate economic analysis method for the problem and solve it correctly.
- Make economically sound investment decisions based on the results of economic analysis.
