Ceramic Glaze Technology

Prerequisite : ENG26 2001 Introduction to Ceramic Engineering and ENG26 2002 Ceramic Raw Materials

Ceramic glaze and classification of ceramic glaze in industry, select and apply ceramic raw materials, glaze receipt and composition calculation for several types of glazes, glaze preparation and adjust the glaze properties for manufacturing process and industry, stain and pigments, glaze decoration, gloss firing, glaze defects and solve the problems, quality control, development of glaze for ceramic industry.

Learning outcomes

1. Explain and classifiy glaze types for ceramic, glass and enamel products.
2. Explain and select the raw materials for ceramic glaze, calculate the glaze composition/batch for developing the appropriate product.
3. Prepare the ceramic glaze, adjust, firing and decorate ceramic glaze for industry
4. Define the defects on glaze, solve the problems and quality control of glaze for industry
