Cement and Gypsum Technology

Prerequisite : ENG26 2001 Introduction to Ceramic Engineering

Production technologies in gypsum and cement industries, including types of standards, raw materials, machines, and equipment for manufacturing process. Principle of process control, calculation for batch design. Effect of process variables and control. Properties of different gypsum and cement products. Basic concept in concrete technology and international standards for property testing.

Learning outcomes

1. Understanding of production technologies in gypsum and cement industries.
2. Able to describe the manufacturing process of cement and gypsum, including types of products, raw materials, machines and equipment in manufacturing process, principle of process control, effect of process variables and control.
3. Able to describe properties of gypsum and cement products.
4. Able to choose international standards for property testing of cement and gypsum.
5. Able to design the batch formula for manufacturing processes.
