Physical Polymer Properties
Prerequisite : None
Introduction to polymer, general polymer property, molecular weight, chain and configuration, crystallization of polymer, mechanical property of polymer and testing, viscoelasticity of polymer, polymer production.
Course Outline
- Introduction to Polymers, General Properties of Polymers. (4 hr.)
- Molecular Weight, Polymer Chain Structure and Polymer Crystallization. (8 hr.)
- Mechanical Properties of Polymers and Testing. (12 hr.)
- Viscosity and Elasticity of Polymers. (12 hr.)
- Processes for Modifying the structure of polymeric materials. (12 hr.)
Learning Outcomes
- Describe the general properties of polymers, molecular weight, polymer chain.
- Calculate the mechanical properties of polymers and select the appropriate polymer flexibility test.
- Propose manufacturing process of polymer that meets the application requirements.
