Characteristics of power electronics devices; principles of power converters – AC to DC converter, DC to DC converter, AC to AC converter, DC to AC converter.

Learning Outcomes

1. Explain the operating principles of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) inverters. (SPLO 1.1)
2. Select the appropriate power converter topology based on specific load requirements. (SPLO 1.3)
3. Explain the environmental impact of power electronics and its critical role in enabling renewable energy systems. (SPLO 4.2)
