Purchasing and Logistics Management

Prerequisite:     ENG22 2003 Logistics and Supply Chain Management

                      Purchasing: The Foundation of the supply chain, Procurement and Purchasing, Purchasing Descriptions and Specifications, Purchasing Equipment, Total Cost of Ownership, Outsourcing, Sourcing, Price and Cost Analysis, Evaluation and selection of manufacturers/suppliers, measuring and evaluating performance.

1. Explain the importance of procurement in logistics and supply chain.
2. Discuss the tools and techniques used in procurement.
3. Discuss the principles of total cost analysiss, Selection of manufacturers/distributors.
4. Describe the measurement and evaluation of purchasing performance.
5. Solve procurement problems from case studies appropriately.
