Agricultural and Food Engineering Dynamics

Agricultural and Food Engineering Dynamics

3(3-0-6)

Prerequisite:   ENG30 2001 Engineering Statics

Fundamentals of dynamics, Newton’s law of motion, Kinetics of a particle, Equation of motion and Newton’s second law, Work and energy, Impulse and momentum, Kinetics and dynamics of rigid-body in planar motion.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the principle of dynamics and to describe the motion of particles, vector functions and the fundamental laws of Newtonian mechanics.
  2. Solve mechanics problems in one dimension that involve one or more of the forces of gravity, friction and air resistance.
  3. Apply the principle of work and energy to solve problems that involve force, velocity, and displacement.
  4. Apply the principle of linear impulse and momentum for a particle to solve problems that involve force, velocity, and time.
  5. Identify the various types of rigid-body in planar motion.
